On Wednesday the 2nd we were delighted to partner with the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity, Show Racism the Red Card, to put on a number of workshops for our local schoolchildren.
The day started with an introductory talk by the head of the North West region, Molly, and continued into some really engaging and important workshops.
The day finished with the children gathering in small groups and planning out a social action plan, in order to educate the local community. A panel with prominent members from within the Altrincham Community shared some of their views and cast the ultimate vote over which plan was the best.
Tackling racism is something that is at the very forefront of the Community Sports’ aims and for a community to feel safe and comfortable to its members, discrimination and racism cannot be tolerated.
It is especially important that we educate the children of today in order to create a more equal society moving forwards. This is exactly what these workshops aim to do, and with the help of specially trained staff, this workshop really benefited the community.
We were delighted to be able to enable this.
