Matchday charity
I’m delighted that my club Altrincham FC have been chosen as one of 10 focus matches by Prostate Cancer UK on non league day. The club and community charity, of which I’m a Trustee, have been so supportive of this initiative.
I was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer in May 2017 and went from training for an ultra marathon to terminally ill in a matter of days aged just 60. I’d had no idea that I’d had a right to a PSA blood test from age 50. They think my cancer had been developing for 10 years when I was diagnosed and I’d had no symptoms at all. If only I’d had that simple blood test every year from age 50 I’d have been diagnosed early and cured. That’s why awareness is so important and why I’m so delighted to be representing the charity today.
Please give generously and you’ll find me at the awareness stall in the community sports hall before the match.
